    G i v e n     t h a t     S n = 3 n + 2 n 2                                                   S 1 = 3 ( 1 ) + 2 ( 1 ) 2 = 5                                                   S 2 = 3 ( 2 ) + 2 ( 2 ) 2 = 1 4                                                   S 1 = a 1 = 5                               S 2 − S 1 = a 2 = 1 4 − 5 = 9 ∴ C o m m o n     d i f f e r e n c e     d     = a 2 − a 1 = 9 − 5 = 4 H e n c e ,     t h e     c o r r e c t     o p t i o n     i s     ( d ) .
