The pressure P1 and density d1 of diatomic gas ( γ = 7 5 )  changes suddenly to P2(>P1) and d2 respectively during an adiabatic process. The temperature of the gas increases and becomes ________times of its initial temperature. (given   d 2 d 1 = 3 2 )

For adiabatic process – PVY = const

T 1 V 1 Y 1 = T 2 V 2 Y 1

T 2 T 1 = ( v 1 v 2 ) Y 1 = ( d 2 d 1 ) Y 1 = ( 3 2 ) ( 7 5 1 ) = ( 3 2 ) 2 / 5

= ( 2 ) 2 = 4
