The study of mathematics is quite important both, at the basic level (taught at universities) and in its applied form (taught at engineering colleges).
Gender(Male/Female) is not important to decide for a career option.
There are various course options that a maths(12th) student can take as a career:

Hi Pankaj,
IIT Kanpur is one of the top colleges in India. Mostly aspirants who want to become engineer in India their first choice are IITs.
For admission in UG courses in IITs first you have to clear JEE(Main) because Only the top 150000 candidates (including all categories) based on their scores in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced)
After that in JEE (Advanced) your rank should be between 100-200 for main branches like cse , ece ,mechanical in IIT Kanpur.
These are the few branches rank
Last year opening rank for CSE in IIT Kanpur is 120.Last year opening rank for Electrical Engineering in IIT Kanpur is 1

Eligeblity criteria for BCA is maths in +2 in reputational university or institute but in less reputed you can do BCA by having any stream in +2 , Keep in mind that after BCA most of university ask for maths in +2 for admission in master degree and you will face problems in admission if you don't have maths in +2 however as you know in india there is always a second way which follow the path of money so you can get admission in masters via donation in colleges.
