The West Bengal Public Service Commission introduced an additional paper of General Studies II (Aptitude paper) in the WBCS prelims exam. Consequently, the Commission removed the aptitude section from the General Studies paper I and changed the weghtage of each section in the General Studies I as mentioned below:

The West Bengal Public Service Commission mentioned that there will be a negative marking in the WBCS 2025 Prelims exam under the new exam pattern. The quantum of negative marking will be mentioned in the WBCS prelims question paper. Under the new exam pattern, there will be two papers in the WBCS prelims exam.

The details can be seen below:

  1. General Studies Paper I - 200 MCQ
  2. General Studies Paper II - 200 MCQ

Both papers will have 200 multiple choice questions.
