* To join Merchant Navy, you need to pass 12th in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) with 1 year pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
You can also join it directly after B.Tech in marine engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronics & telecommunication, naval architect.
If you pursue B.Sc (Nautical Science) in the officer cadre, it will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experience.
Except marine engineering candidates, others have to undergo a 10 months pre-sea training which is offered by many institute and port trusts or recruiting company itself. After that you will be appointed as a 5th or junior engineer. It will take 5-7 years depending on your abilities to become 'chief engineer'.

- Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai- Candidates who are interested in applying to this institute should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or in Naval Architecture from the recognized Institute of AICTE. The Admissions are held through JEE and the selection is of the candidates are based on the merit.
- LBS College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research– Located in Mumbai, The LBS Advanced Maritime Studies and Research Centre is a private institution. The candidates' selection is based on the norms and regulation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University OPEN NET – Merchant Navy Entrance Test.

Sanjay, There are many careers for the creative/ artistic people. Interiors, textile as well as Web Design rely on the same skills - your layout skills and color sense. Journalism also is at this level and relies on your language skills and knowledge of history and current affairs. A little higher perches Graphic Design, Fashion Design, jewellery design, Acting, and Fine Arts which rely on one of your artistic skills - sketching and imagination. At a similar level perches VFX as well as Motion Graphics which rely on one of your artistic skills - Cinematographic skills and imagination. Then come careers like Animation, Film Making, Game Design which rely on multiple talents like your authority over sketching, acting, direction, voice, sound, writing, storytelling and problem solving skills etc. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted.
