While IT infrastructure may not directly lead to a career in Science, it can certainly be a useful skillset to have in many scientific fields. For example, scientists often rely on computer systems and software to process and analyze data, and being proficient in IT infrastructure can be valuable in supporting those systems. Additionally, there are some specialised areas of Science that do involve a combination of IT and scientific skills, such as bioinformatics or computational Biology which could be worth exploring if you have an interest in both fields.
