Before going for pursuing studies abroad you need to first decide does the course will be helpful for you i.e. does it provide good job opportunities in India or abroad.
Please remember the cost of education in US would be much more as compared to education in India, so you need to decide whether it is worth to invest such a big amount.
If you think thing that by taking a year gap you may be able to make it to IITs then you may surely take a gap and prepare for GATE.
However if you do not wish to drop a year then you may surely go ahead for studies abroad.
I would request Manmeet Kaur50173 to share her expert opinion on this.
