No, you cannot take a correspondence course (also known as distance education) for a BTech degree at IITs or NITs  (or any other reputable institute in India) because the Supreme Court of India has ruled that BTech programs require extensive practical training, which is difficult to achieve effectively through pure distance learning. Therefore, accredited institutions offering B.Tech degrees must have a significant in-person component.

Alternatives to Consider:

• B.Tech Distance Education from Accredited Universities: While IITs and NITs don't offer distance B.Tech, some universities do. Ensure the programme is accredited by UGC (University Grants Commission) or AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) for wider recognition.
