The BSc Physician Assistant course is not directly regulated or recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), as the MCI primarily governs the education and practice of doctors (MBBS, MD, etc.). 

However, BSc Physician Assistant course is offered by several reputed universities and institutions in India, and it is approved by the respective state health universities or affiliating bodies under UGC (University Grants Commission) guidelines. 

The National Medical Commission (NMC), which replaced the MCI, focuses on regulating medical practitioners, whereas the Physician Assistant course falls under paramedical education, which is governed by state councils or health education boards. Therefore, while PAs play an important role in healthcare, they do not fall under the purview of MCI/NMC.

While both roles are essential in healthcare, PAs have a more diagnostic and treatment-focused role, whereas nurses provide holistic care to patients.

A Physician Assistant is trained to work closely with doctors in diagnosing illnesses, performing medical procedures, assisting in surgeries, and providing clinical support. They are more involved in medical decision-making and function as doctor extenders rather than independent caregivers. 

In contrast, Nurses primarily focus on patient care and comfort, including tasks like administering medication, monitoring vital signs, and educating patients about their health. Nurses typically follow standard care protocols and work in shifts, whereas PAs are involved in case management, medical procedures, and follow-up care under a doctor's supervision.

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a healthcare professional trained to assist doctors in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients, but they are not licensed to practice independently. While both roles involve providing patient care, the key difference lies in their education, responsibilities, and level of autonomy. 

Doctors undergo extensive medical education and training, including an MBBS degree followed by postgraduate specializations, enabling them to make independent medical decisions, perform complex surgeries, and prescribe medication without supervision. 

In contrast, a Physician Assistant typically completes a 3 year UG course and works under the direct supervision of a doctor. PAs assist with routine medical tasks such as taking patient histories, conducting physical exams, performing minor procedures, and providing follow-up care, making them valuable support staff in hospitals and clinics.
