Yes, MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) was formerly known as the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) which was established in 1983 as the first college of the MAEER group of institutions. It was affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) until it turned into MIT World Peace University, a private university under the guidance of Revered Prof (Dr.) Vishwanath D Karad.

Talking about the eligibility, candidates must pass HSC or its equivalent examination with compulsory subjects of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics along with Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/ Technical Vocational subject or a pass in Diploma in Engineering and Technology in order to be eligible for the BTech course.

No, direct admission to UNIPUNE is not possible. Admission to all the UG and PG courses are entrance-based. Hence, candidates who have passed the entrance exam are eligible for admission. Additionally, for a few courses, such as MCA MMM, Advanced Diploma, MPH E-MBA, and LL. M. and M. Lib. ISC, the admission is based on the Merit list. The merit list is prepared based on the previous qualifying exam (Class 12 for UG admission and UG degree for PG admission).
