Getting admissions into Sankalchand Patel College of Engineering is done strictly on performance in GUJCET or JEE Main exams. The competition level is fair as SPCE is a good engineering college in Gujarat and so many students apply there every year. General category students require a high rank in GUJCET or JEE Main for the popular branches like Computer Science or Electronics. However, even candidates with lower ranks can get seats through Management Quota and the fee structure would be more. Eligibility criteria must be met for admission to any course.

Food quality in the hostel mess in SPCE is quite acceptable for most of the students. It provides both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. The environment for food preparation is hygienic, and the place where the dishes are served is also clean. The taste might or might not be good, but it should not be a major concern because, according to the college management, a meal is nutritious and balanced, so better for everyone's health. In addition, management often takes ideas from the students concerning improving the quality of food and hence ensuring that it is of high standards by the residents.
