You can justify it by saying that scoring good percentage in graduation doesn't mean to have good practical knowledge. Percentage can be increased by studying theoretical books. BA in Astronomy is a popular course, or you can also pursue BA in Sanskrit, and then pursue MA in Astronomy. For college, I would suggest for a local one, as there are a few good colleges, but it is not worth to leave home to study in such colleges, as there are no placements and in the end only your degree will matter anyway.
