Admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses are based on the scores obtained in the relevant entrance examination conducted by the university or other recognised bodies, as well as academic performance in qualifying examinations. However, there may be some reserved seats for candidates from specific categories like SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. These seats are reserved as per the guidelines of the Government of India and are filled through a separate admission process. If you are getting NIT then never think of Jadavpur University. The QS World University Rankings ranked NIT Trichy 228 in Asia in the 2018 ranking. NIT Trichy was ranked 11 among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017 and 34 overall. So I prefer you NIT Trichy.

It varies from department to department although but on a general basis
10 am to 5:30 pm is your class hour. Monday to Friday. But in a week, two days you would have a half day either in first half or in second half. So on an average you would have 31 hours of class a week.
60 percent attendance is mandatory to sit for class tests of 30 marks but you need not to have any attendance barrier to sit for final sem exams.

Personally I feel that people are wasting their time comparing the two institutes. Both are some of the best institutes in india right now and both are giving the top iits a run for their money. I am not saying that getting into ju or bits is easy (to get into bits pilani CSE you need to get 380+ marks out of 450 which is really tough. And to get into ju CSE you have to get a position in the top 100 amongst almost 1.5 Lacs candidates. ). And many students in these colleges have a decent rank in JEE adv and can get into an IIT, but they consider their stream over a just a brand.

  • Infrastructure: IITs have a leg up when it comes to research labs and equipment due to their focus on Engineering and Technology programmes.

MDU ROHTAK is an average University. Though it has some good impression in North India but I will suggest you to evaluate all options as placements are highly unlikely in mechanical and electrical Branch. It totally depends on what options are available for you at a given point of time.
