There are many different types of photography, including news photography, artistic photography, commercial photography, and portrait photograpy (including that lady who takes pictures at Sears.)
It really depends on what kind of photography interests you.
Walking around and snapping photos isn't a full-time job for most people. (It is kind of like being a professional poet.) You have to take photos that people want to BUY.
So - without knowing your age, or what type of photography interests you, here is my advice:
Obtain a digital camera, and take plenty of pictures. Take 100 pictures a day. Look at them. Decide which ones are your favori
