It is not compulsory to give an entrance exam for admission to the BTech Marine Engineering course admission. The basic eligibility for most of the colleges is to have at least 60% marks in the PCM subjects in Class 12 and a score of 50% in English. You can start with the basic step of checking the eligibility criteria for BTech Marine Engg. at popular colleges and make sure you meet the same. If your preferred college provides admission on the basis of Class 12 merit, that is good. No, you do not have to give NEET in order to pursue Microbiology from the colleges in Coimbatore. NEET is the entrance exam for admission to Medicine (MBBS) courses. Since Microbiology is generally studied as a BSc or MSc degree, it is not mandatory for students to give NEET. They can get admission to Microbiology courses on the basis of class 12 scores.

It is tough to compare which institute is easier to get admission into for BCom courses among Somaiya Vidyavihar University and Jai Hind College. Both of the institutes are privately owned and have similar reputations in Mumbai.
