Yes you're. You should score good marks in the entrance exams which ever you take, and give them a good impression about you. And also the way you write your application letter matters. There is no problem in applying but while applying they will require the final year mark sheet too. Since you are applying for the Jan intake your results might come out by then. So, it's better if you apply once your results have come out. Or you can apply early and let the University know that you are a final year student and ask them for the procedure.

Hello Pruthvi, Karnataka Examination Authority conducts common entrance test for Diploma holders for giving admission in engineering colleges directly in the second year called lateral entry scheme. Probably the dates for this online examination will be announced shortly and it is expected that the admission or registration process for this examination is likely to commence in the month of May after the declaration of results of Diploma examinations across the state.
