Gemology is a scientific study that is concerned with gemstones. These gemstones could be natural or artificial. Gemology is a significant part of Jewellery Design as the Designer has to recognise and analyse gemstones before using them in jewellery. On becoming a licensed and certified gemologist one can evaluate and certify gemstones. Richard T. Liddicoat is regarded as the father of modern gemology. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are considered to be the big three gemstones. The blue diamond is the most precious gemstone.

Hope this helps!!!
