I'd recommend the hostel, especially in your first year. It helps you settle in faster, make friends, and stay involved in events and clubs. Everything is within walking distance, and honestly, hostel life has its own fun late-night Maggi, group study sessions, and movie nights. PG might give more freedom, but you miss out on campus vibes.

The PTE (Pearson Test of English) score is reported on a scale of 10 to 90, with 90 being the highest possible score. Instead of traditional "bands" like IELTS, PTE uses this single numerical scale to represent your overall English proficiency and your performance in each of the four communicative skills: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.

However, to understand different levels of proficiency, the PTE score is often interpreted within certain ranges that correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels:

Here's a common interpretation of PTE scores in relation to proficiency levels:

PTE ScoreCEFR LevelEnglish Proficiency Level

76-84C1Advanced
59-75B2Upper-Intermediate

Getting 58 marks in the PTE exam means that you have a B2 level of proficiency. This level of proficiency is generally required by most universities abroad for UG and PG intakes.

A NZD 70,000 annual salary in New Zealand can be considered decent but not high, depending on your lifestyle, location, and family situation. Your salary after tax is around NZD 55,000 annually (NZD 4,580/month) after tax (single person). To cover monthly expenses as single person you need NZD 1,779 per month excluding your rent.
