The admisison at IBMR Kolkata is based on merit and entrance exams. The institute accepts national entrance exams like MAT, JEMAT, CMAT, WBMAT, CAT and MAKAUT CET. Students must have to qualify the eligibility criteria. The final selection is based on group discussion and personal discussion.

No, there is no ragging culture at IBMR - Institute of Business Management & Research has an anti-ragging cell. The Institute takes action against the students involved in ragging. For both MBA, credits requirement depend on programme length. First one is a two-year MBA which requires a total of 90 credits. Second is one-year MBA which requires 45 credits for the Master's Degree.

It is the Premier B School in Kolkata and establsihed in the year 1976.
