Since one has to apply to CMAT accepting colleges individually, there is no limit to the number. Aspirants can apply to as many colleges as they want and think they have the chance of getting admission in. While applying for CMAT, candidates must check the CMAT cut offs for the colleges and apply to only those who have cut offs in the range in which their CMAT score falls. For example, if a candidate has scored 76 percentile in CMAT, they should apply to colleges accepting scores in the range of 70-76 percentile.

NTA has no role in CMAT counselling. NTA only conducts the CMAT exam on behalf of AICTE. Post result declaration, NTA is not involved in any activity related to CMAT. Since CMAT is an exam conducted by a government authority, any institution is free to use it as a parameter to select candidates for admission. Over 1300 government, government aided and private MBA colleges accept CMAT score for admission but they conduct admission process individually without NTA intervention.
