These days emphasis is on CSE, ECE, Civil and Mechanical branches, but it also depends upon your choice. If you are somebody who wants to sit in an AC office then, of course, CSE and ECE are for you, but if you are somebody who doesn't mind working in the field then Civil and Mechanical are very good options.
These days, Civil and Mechanical students are also getting good job opportunities and packages.
With a passage of time, the impact of technology has increased due to which many new branches have come up like Biotech, Food tech., Aerospace, Agri., Biomedical engineering., Mechanatronics, Chemical engineering., etc. These also are good ones, but then it is the interest that is very important.
Now, the most important thing is the university/college that you choose for your degree. These days, we have many good government as well as private universities like IITs, NITs, LPU, SRM, etc., offering admissions in different engineering branches. Some of them offer admission just on the basis of tests like JEE and some offer you direct admission on the basis of your marks in previous qualifying exam and their own test, some offer admission on the basis of just their own test or just your marks in class 12th. So, you can check the websites of these universities to know the course and fee details.

All three entrance exams, CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), and CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), are helpful for MBA admissions in India. However, CAT is considered to be the most prestigious and difficult exam among the three. CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims), which are the most reputed institutions for management education in India. MAT is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA), and CMAT is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The choice of the exam you should clear depends on various factors such as your academic background, preparation level, target B-Schools, and the difficulty level of the exams. If you are aiming for top B-Schools like Iims, XLRI, FMS, and MDI, then you should consider taking the CAT exam. However, if you are looking for admission to mid-tier B-Schools, then MAT and CMAT can also be a good option. I suggest you research the B-Schools you are interested in and check their admission criteria to decide which exam to take. You can also take mock tests for all the exams to assess your strengths and weaknesses and then decide accordingly.
