On the basis of marks scored in H.S. / ISC / CBSE or equivalent Board examination at +2 level. Students applying for BCA must have English as one of the subjects at +2 level. Apart from that it is also mandatory to have any one of the following subjects:

B.Com completion is enough for the admission in MBA. BBA is not necessary if you want to do MBA. 50% or lower marks are such a big issue but do again and fill exams again and get admission in post graduation.

Number of questions in NIFT General Ability Test (GAT) depends upon what course you are appearing in the examination for . All the papers in NIFT GAT are Computer based .

Apart from GAT, NIFT also tests its candidates with a Creative Ability Test (CAT ) to test their creative skills, concept observation skills and illustrations based drawings and designs. This exam is conducted through offline pen and paper mode. Candidates will be given 180 minutes (3 hours) for this colour and drawing based examination. 

A candidate not appearing in this examination, will not have access to situation test for B.Des or M.Des.

There will be several stages to the NIFT 2024 exam. For example, in order to be admitted to the B. Des programme, an applicant must first pass the written GAT and CAT tests. Under the NIFT lateral entry admission (NLEA) scheme, the candidate can get admission directly to the 3rd semester of the B. Des programme. Candidates opting for the NLEA scheme need to first appear in the General Ability Test (GAT). Candidates who get shortlisted has to next appear in a Studio Test, and finally in a Personal Interview. The GAT test will carry 40% weightage, Studio Test carries 40% weightage, while the Interview carries 20% weightage. It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the stages of the exam. If not, he or she will not be included in the admission merit list.

Admission to the design courses at NIFTs is based on performance of the candidate in the Studio Test, Interview round, and verification of documents/ eligibility criteria. The Studio Test carries a weightage of 40%, while the Interview carries 20% weightage. During the Studio Test, the candidate will be asked to make a 3D-model. The material to make the model will be provided to the candidate inside the exam hall; note that no other material is allowed. Acording to the latest notice by NIFT, the 2024 GAT examination for B.Des programme has a duration on two hours (120 minutes). 

The examination is conducted through offline mode. Candidates have to appear in the examination centres to give the examination.
