Number of questions in NIFT General Ability Test (GAT) depends upon what course you are appearing in the examination for . All the papers in NIFT GAT are Computer based . 

• NIFT GAT examination for B.Des - 

1) Duration of the examination - two hours. (120 minutes).

• NIFT GAT examination for M.Des-

• NIFT BFTech Examination - 

1) Duration of the examination - Three hours. (180 minutes).

3) Number of questions - One Hundred and Fifty Questions.

There will be several stages to the NIFT 2024 exam. For example, in order to be admitted to the B. Des programme, an applicant must first pass the written GAT and CAT tests. If they are selected for further consideration, they must then take a Situation Test. Candidates for M.Des who make the short list must attend a personal interview rather than the situation test. Be aware that each test component will be assigned a weight when preparing the NIFT 2024 final result. For the B. Des programme, the final score will be determined by allocating 50% of the weight to the CAT, 30% to the GAT, and 20% to the Situation Test. The CAT is worth 40% of the total weight for the M.Des programme, while the GAT and personal interview are worth 30% each.

The participating institutes of NIFTs offer a 4-year B.FTech programme. Admission to the programme is based on GAT scores.

• The NIFT GAT question paper for the programme will be approximately 180 minutes and will be bilingual.
• Candidates will have the option to take the exam either in English or Hindi.
•  The question type will be multiple-choice.
• The question paper will have a total of 150 questions.
• Questions will be asked from the following FIVE sections - Communication Ability and Comprehension, Case Study, Quantitative Ability, Analytical & Logical Ability, and GK and Current Affairs. The mode of NIFT exam for the GAT paper will be a computer-based test (or CBT).

Acording to the latest notice by NIFT, the 2024 GAT examination for B.Des programme has a duration on two hours (120 minutes). 

The examination is conducted through offline mode. Candidates have to appear in the examination centres to give the examination. 

Maximum weightage of the examination is 100 marks. There are 100 questioned asked to the candidate with +1 awarded for each correct answer, followed by a negative of 0.25 for each wrong one and 0 for each unattempted one . 

The NIFT GAT examination is divided into five sections- Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
