Lateral entry allows Diploma holders to directly join the second year of a B.Tech program. To be eligible, candidates typically need a 3-year Diploma in engineering with at least 50-60% aggregate marks. Some institutions may also consider students with a B.Sc. degree in mathematics or physics. 

Diploma: Candidates must have completed a 3-year full-time Diploma in engineering. 

Minimum Marks: A minimum aggregate score of 50% to 60% in the Diploma is generally required. 

Branch/Stream: Some institutions require the Diploma to be in a related field to the B.Tech program. 

Backlogs: Most institutions don't allow backlogs in the diploma. 

Class 10/12: While some institutions may require a Diploma after class 10, others accept diplomas after class 12. 

Entrance Exams: Many institutions conduct entrance exams for lateral entry, like LEET (Lateral Engineering Entrance Test). Some states also conduct their own entrance exams.
