LMU Munich offers housing facilities to students coming from various countries. However, accommodation is limited and international students must connect with the Munich Student Union (Studentenwerk München) to book rooms on priority. Students who fail to avail the on-campus housing facilities offered by the university may look for various off-campus accommodation options.

LMU Munich On-Campus Accommodation

Students may apply for the following types of student dorms:

• Residence halls

• Student apartments

• Single student dorm

• Single room

Special Accommodation:

LMU Munich also offers single rooms in a housing community to facilitate differently-abled students with suitable appliances.

On-Campus Accommodation Cost*

The residential halls/rooms offered by the university are well-furnished and may cost anywhere between EUR 270 and EUR 340 a month. The other expenses that students should consider for living in Munich, including food and necessities, would cost approximately EUR 800-1,000 a month.

LMU Munich Off-Campus Accommodation

Due to limited space, only 13% of total LMU students secure on-campus student residences. Majority of national and international students live in off-campus accommodations such as:

Off-Campus Accommodation Cost*

The cost of living off-campus ranges anywhere between EUR 400 and EUR 650 that further depends on location. In general, the rent cycle fixed every month is billed on every eighth working day of a month* in Munich.

The minimum programme-wise eligibility criteria that international applicants need to meet before applying to LMU Munich are given below:

Undergraduate Level Eligibility Requirements

1. Basic Education:

• Grade 12 in relevant discipline with good scores from a recognised board of education

2. English Proficiency (either of):

• IELTS: A minimum of 6.5 bands

• TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 79

Graduate Level Eligibility Requirements

1. Basic Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with good scores from a recognised university

2. English Proficiency (either of):

• IELTS: A minimum of 6.5 bands

• TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 80

MBA Eligibility Requirements

1. Basic Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with good scores from a recognised university

2. English Proficiency (either of):

• IELTS: A minimum of 7.5 bands

• TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 100

3. Other MBA Requirements:

• GMAT: Minimum score of 600 for MBA applicants

• Work experience: A minimum of two years

German Proficiency for International Students

International students must prove their language proficiency through either of the following German proficiency passing certificates:

• Deutsche Sprachprüfung für then Hochschuluzugang (DSH)

• Deutsches Sprachdiplom there Kultusministerkonferenz (DSD II)
