After MBBS, doctors may prepare for work in general practice in Government or private hospitals or they may choose to specialize. More than 70% of all MBBS graduates try for postgraduate qualifications, rather than going in for a job or private practice. At the post graduate level, there is specialization in Medicine and Surgery. Career opportunities also exist in medical services of the army, navy and air force, under the Ministry of Defence or in charitable institutions. Some candidates after post graduation, also opt to serve in medical colleges and training institutes as teachers or in research institutes and medical colleges as researchers. Many go for private practice/ self employment.You can also opt for Medical Underwriting. Other career options can be found in the field of hospital administration and medical transcription. Hospital management is yet another option you could try getting into by doing a MHA course. Recently there has been a trend to opt for MBA rather than MHA.

The options are unlimited, as you have done your class 12 with science. With the combination of biology, physics and chemistry you can take up medicine, dentistry, Pharmacy, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology, Microbiology). Apart from doing the degree level courses in science with the conventional combinations you can also choose degree courses in several emerging professional areas, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration, hotel management, tourism management etc. you can also opt for courses outside the university stream, such as hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering, government accredited computer courses and a host of post 10 + 2 level vocational courses. For pursuing a course in engineering you should have Maths as compulsory subject in 10+2.
