For M.E/M.Tech -Merit based on GATE/ TANCET/ Vels Entrance Examination and percentage of mark secured in the qualifying examination.

For B.E/B.Tech - Merit based on Vels Entrance Examination and merit based on percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

For B.Tech Marine Engineering - Merit based on percentage of marks secured in the qualifying in IMUCET examination together with 10+2 marks.

For Management Course - Merit based on percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

For MBA - The varsity accepts CAT, MAT and XAT scores for M.B.A. admissions. Candidates can also appear for the VEE.

For LLM course -Admission based on past academic record and VEE score of candidates.

For Other Courses- Merit based on the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

Refund of Fee
Refund will be made as per the norms of UGC. The admission and registration fee is Non-refundable. Request for Cancellation of Admission and refund of fees may be considered as per the following norms.

i) If a student applies for cancellation prior to the commencement of classes, then, the
tuition fee will be refunded. Registration and admission fees are not refundable.

ii) If a student discontinues in the middle of a course, he/she shall be required to pay
the tuition fee for the remaining period of the programme.

iii) The management may sympathetically consider the application to discontinue and
on their discretion may order for the payment of tuition fees for the semester during
which the student has last attended and permit to issue to TC.

iv) Refund will be made only after submission of original fee receipt, Provisional
Admission Letter and No Dues Certificate. The refund will be made through account
transfer to the account number mentioned on the student profile. Therefore, provide
the correct account number details on the profile. In case of a refund through DD, the
DD will be made only in the name of the candidate.

The admission process for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) at VELS School of Maritime Studies involves the following steps:

• Admission Eligibility: To apply, candidates must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics group and must have secured a minimum 50% in English as a subject either at the 10th standard or at the 12th standard.

1. A candidate must pass 10+2 or its equivalent Examinations with a minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics groups.
2. The candidate must have also secured at least 50% in English at the 10th or 12th Standard.
3. The interested candidate must be of maximum 25 years of age on the date of commencement of the course. 
4. The candidate must also fulfill the medical standard. One should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms with minimum unaided vision in each eye to be 6/12, and with no colour blindness.
