Hi,
UPSC exams are very tough and require a lot of hard work and dedication. It is not so that you will require a safe career as a back support but yes to be eligible for the Civil Services, you will require to be a graduate degree holder from a recognized University.
Being a graduate the minimum eligibility will help you in future as well even if you couldn't make it through the UPSC exams as this is the base of education on which you can pursue higher education.
More than anything else, i would advise you to be confident on you hard work and start preparing for the UPSC exams keeping marginal time in hand so that you are able to analyze how to go about it and observe your weak and strong areas and can develop those as well.

Deepak, If you are confused about careers after PG/ graduation, there are a few ways to approach this. One, is to go for a career counsellor who would take parametric tests and identify your strengths and weaknesses and advise career categories to attempt. Also, if you are very good with, and like maths and programming, you may opt for Computers. Whereas, if you are good with Drawing and Creative opt for Design (Animation, VFX, Games, Fashion). If you are good with words become a writer (content, news, fiction, ads) or director. If you are good with keeping records go for Accounts or Stats or administration. If you are good with logic and have patience go for Law. If you are good at memorizing and love nature and are caring go for medical. If you are good with people and are quick with decisions, go for Management. If you are good with nothing become a politician (haha, pun intended - actually you need very good insight into future for this). Wish you the best for your career. Licentiate exam is an introductory course, Associate ship is a specialization course consisting of 5 technical subjects and one common subject i.e. IT. Fellowship is the highest exam and involves advanced studies of the prescribed areas. Fellowship exam is open to the Associates of the institutes only(Insurance institute Of India). You can look for job roles like assistant administrative officers in insurance companies, insurance surveyor, risk managers, underwriters, claim adjusters, actuaries, insurance consultants, etc in the insurance industry. Potential employers are various Life Insurance and non- lIfe Insurance companies like Aviva, GIC, Reliance, HDFC, SBI, Tata AIG, ICICI etc.
Answering to your question: Because of introduction of credit point system from May 2012 now there is no time limit to pass for Licentiate, Associateship, Fellowship, Specialized Diploma,C.I.S., Surveyors and Actuarial Science Examination as such. Validity of credit points of subject passed expires after 5 years if candidate is unable to pass full Associateship. However candidates passed and elected as Associate member of III will always have 250 credit points to their credit. After passing Associateship with 250 credit points if a candidate further acquires 240 credit points within 7years with one compulsory subject (Actuarial), he/she will be declared as passed in fellowship.
