Hello Rishi,
No, B.Tech is not equivalent to Diploma. Diploma is a 3 year course, which you can do after class 10th whereas, B.Tech can be done only after 10+2.
So, this makes them differrnt from each other.

For B.Des, NIFT is considered to be the best option. Other than that, you can go for NID, Pearl Academy, MAEER MIT, Symbiosis Institute or AAFT.

In my opinion, NDIM is the best one among all the institutes, because unlike most other PGDMs and MBA programmes, PGDM at NDIM is unique as the students graduate with 'Dual Specialization' rather than 1 major and 1 minor specialization as in most other b-schools. Something you should know. It will depend on your choice of career and attributes. You may choose to pursue MS in Civil Engineering and specialize in a particular field or look for MS in more specific subjects like Urban Planning etc. You can also look for Engineering Management, General Management courses etc. Decide according to your own goals.
