The NIFT entrance exam forms are available in the month of November/December. You can apply online with a registration fee of Rs 1500 for the general category. The written exam (GAT and CAT) is in the month of January/February. If qualified, you will have to give a situation test which is generally in the month of May. Once you get admission into NIFT, on the basis of your rank and performance in the situation test, you will be given a choice among the different branches of NIFTs, or maybe directly be allowed the branch. The fee structure for the BDes programme is around 8 lakhs for 4 years.

It means, you have to apply in that particular application, providing your class 12th board mark sheet/marks and the preferences regarding the subjects you've studies in class 12th, and would like to study in graduation. If specified, anything regarding preferences in the form, then you will have to fill out according to that choice of field. For example, if you are asked to fill the branch you want to study in engineering, you will have to fill your preference in the order you want it. Like-
1. CS
2. EC
3. Mechanical etc.
