Yes, you need to. Most of the reputed private universities conduct their own entrance exams and give scholarships based on the scores in the same. Hence you need to take their exams. There are some universities, which admit based on the board exams scores alone and so such institutes never ask you for any exams.

Eligibility for BA (Hons) Bengali. Candidates who have completed 10+2 or Intermediate examination from a recognized board in the stream of Arts, Science, or Commerce with the Bengali language are eligible. Students who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the examination are eligible.
