Hi,
I agree reasonable weight-age is given to the academics while applying for jobs but then the major chunk falls upon the parameters such as extra curricular, personality, inter personal skills, general knowledge, etc.
So if you think that you are weak in one segment then, you can always make the other half stronger.
Make your resume more enhanced with additional certifications (Cisco, JAVA, SAP, Hardware, etc).
Work on yourself by taking personality development and soft skills classes. Build confidence in you, keep yourself update with all current affairs.
Time Management and Team Spirit are other two factors that can help.

Hi,
Ranking varies as per the different surveyors. Faculty, Course Material, Quality Education, Fees, Accreditation, Infrastructure and Placements are the factors that define a good and reputed institute.
Consider the above parameters and then take a wise decision after thorough discussion with your peer group, family and faculty at school.
And for best results, I may suggest you to personally visit all the institutes and interact with the existing batches and also try reaching alumni for clear and transparent review.
