I agree reasonable weight-age is given to the academics while applying for jobs but then the major chunk falls upon the parameters such as extra curricular, personality, inter personal skills, general knowledge, etc.
So if you think that you are weak in one segment then, you can always make the other half stronger.
Make your resume more enhanced with additional certifications (Cisco, JAVA, SAP, Hardware, etc).
Work on yourself by taking personality development and soft skills classes. Build confidence in you, keep yourself update with all current affairs.
Time Management and Team Spirit are other two factors that can help.
