Hi Pratik, you must definitely look at the reputation of a school and the research work, publications its staff has been doing and intend to do in future. How good is the school giving out financial aid, stipends, graduate research assistantship positions to international students are other criterion you must check. There are no exams as such and depends from university to university. The only exam you may have to take would be GMAT or GRE. Top business schools like Kellogg announces applications every year with requirements stated clearly on the websites, you need to keep yourself updated.

Hi Prakhar,
The oil and gas industry is usually divided into three major sectors: upstream, midstream and downstream. The upstream oil sector is also commonly known as the exploration and production (E&P) sector.
The upstream sector includes searching for potential underground or underwater crude oil and natural gas fields, drilling exploratory wells, and subsequently drilling and operating the wells that recover and bring the crude oil and/or raw natural gas to the surface. There has been a significant shift toward including unconventional gas as a part of the upstream sector, and corresponding developments in liquefied natural gas (LNG

IIMs put a cutoff of 60% for past academic performance. You are just on the boarder line. Hence to get a call from IIMs, you will need to do really well in CAT. As most IIMs compute a composite score based on your previous academic performance. You would not have good standing with respect to composite score, hence really good performance in CAT is the only way out for you.
