No Science background is not compulsory to study BASLP. There are colleges they can join without Science background. In Australia, you can study Masters in Audiology, or Master in Speech Pathology even with any degree, but you just have to do some Anatomy and Physiology course. After all it is not that hard to study Audiology and speech pathology when compare to Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Nursing.
