You have not mentioned what is your educational background and which degree program you want to go for. However, it would be better if the Institute is approved by AICTE or UGC as those Institutes will have a good value in the job Market rather thab those which are giving a recognised degree of some other Institute, as that shows that they don't have their own market standing.

Merit is something which is very important and is considered as an integral aspect during placements but more than that it is your skill set and knowledge that you represent at the time of the placements/ interviews.
