Difference between IIT JAM and GATE:
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India entrance exam which allows candidates to apply for IITs, NITs, IISc, and a few other applied sciences institutes/universities. GATE exam can only be given by the candidates with applied Science degrees like B.E and B.Tech, to pursue M.Tech and M.Sc. By research, integrated Ph.D and direct Ph.D programs. IIT JAM (Joint Admission test for M.Sc) is an all India entrance exam which allows candidates to apply for IITs, IISERs, IISc, and NITs. IIT JAM exam can be given by the candidates with both basic sciences and applied sciences degrees to pursue M.Sc (four semesters), Joint M.Sc Ph.D, M.Sc-M.Tech, M.Sc-Ph.D dual degree & other courses. IIT JAM syllabus mainly includes topics that candidates usually study in their Bachelor's degree programs. GATE syllabus has slightly advanced topics in the syllabus. GATE syllabus includes some part of the JAM syllabus in addition to some extra advanced topics.

Applications for the various courses in Humanities, Commerce, BCA and Sciences are to be submitted online (www.sxca.edu.in) by the end of May every year. The cost of application form for each specialisation can be paid only through NET banking, debit/credit card. Kindly read the instruction given on website before filling the online form. Candidates are expected to come to the institute for onsite verification of documents on the allotted date. Admissions are granted based on merit. Merit list will be displayed on the notice board and selected candidates are expected to pay the fees within the dates mentioned. Kindly read the instructions carefully that is given at the admission portal (active only by the end of May) for details of admission process and fee structure.
