A good mentor and wise selection of courses with a good school, followed by diligent learning, would get you a head start in your career. However, you must check your suitability for this field. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in animation design, game design, graphics, storyboarding, 3d modelling, texturing and lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation (2D and 3D). However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. So going for a generic course covering all or most of these would be the best way to get started in these careers. Typically you should have good sketching skills to be able to make a sound career in this (if you work hard you can improve your drawing skills tremendously). Nothing but your innermost talent and passion should lead you to the course and the institute you choose. I agree with my friend Shubhi that ultimately your selection in good colleges of DU will depend on the course that you are applying for. With an increase of 37% in students of Delhi getting above 90 the DU colleges are expected to release the highest every CUTOFF list this year. So your chances of getting BCOM are a little slim there.
I suggest that you evaluate doing a professional BCom Degree from colleges of other universities in Delhi. Just make sure that you join a REGULAR Degree. Doing correspondence will reduce and affect your career prospects severely in the future.
You may also consider joining a professional BCom which will improve your career prospects dramatically. Consider BCom in Banking & Finance, BCom Banking & Insurance, BCom Accounting & Finance, etc. These additional specializations will give you a lot of domain knowledge, which will improve your salary prospects later when you join the industry.
