Your degree may be valid but it may be so that the West Bengal School Service Commission does not recognize distance degree and recognizes only regular degree. For this you will have to check their website. Along with this having the requisite % is also important.

B.Com hons is a very good career opportunity. It depends on what career you want to make. There are several other programs as well like CA CS consider the IPM course as well launched IIM Indore, I will suggest it over B.Com. Then there are conventional courses like B.A. M.A. and becoming IAS/teacher, etc.
