Yes, you can certainly get into the army by giving the following exams:
1. CDS Examination- You can sit for this paper provided your age is between 19-25 years from the date of joining and you've completed your graduation from a UGC recognised university or institution.
2. Special Entries for NCC.
For this entry, one does not have to apply for any test. This a direct form of selection in which the candidate only has to go for the SSB Interview.
Age Limit: Candidates age should be between 19-25 years i.e., a candidate must be born not earlier than 02-01-1991 and not later than 01-01-1997.
Educational qualification: Candidates should possess degree of a recognised university or equivalent with minimum 50% marks.
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected based on qualification, Group Tests, Psychological Tests, Interview and Medical Examination.
3. University Entry Scheme (UES Entry Scheme)
This being a Permanent Commission job, only male candidates can apply for it. There are 2 interview schedules for the entrance; the first one is held at the campus (any college campus close to your location) whereas the final one is held at the SSB centers. The eligibility criteria for the same is a B.Tech degree (the final and pre-final year students can also apply) whereas The age of the candidates should be between 18 years to 24 years at the time of commencement of course.

No, you can't give the improvement exam, if you have joined any course. The prerequisite of giving the improvement exam is that the concerned person must not be enrolled in any course while applying for or giving the exam. So, you can either join a course or you can drop a year to give the CBSE improvement exam the following year, whichever you are comfortable with. Also if you lagged in just one subject, there is an option which allows you to give one exam the same year to improve your score. This exam is usually conducted by the CBSE along with those appearing for compartment papers. But, again it depends on your choice to give the exam or not as the results are announced late around August when colleges seats are occupied.
