Electrical engineering.

In order to pursue MS from USA, you need to have:
Good academic record, preferably 60%-70% plus in graduation.
Relevant undergraduate degree from recognized university.
GRE score of 1200-1300 plus.
TOEFL score of 80-90 plus.

Its good to know that you are interested in civil services, but since you have classes till 5 pm, so it would be advisable for you to concentrate on your B.tech first, and once this is completed then you can start the full fledged preparation for IAS, due to the preparation your regular studies should not be affected.
The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) of India conducts the exam and on the basis of the result IAS, IPS, IFS officers are selected.
It has three-step process i.e.
Preliminary Exam (Prelims)
Main Exam (Mains), and
Interview.
For preliminary test preparation , you should be aware of all the current affairs, plus you should prepare well for general knowledge, you should develop a habit of reading news papers, magazines and journals daily, as this will help you to prepare well for GK and current affairs.
For mains you need to select your subject, and you must have in depth knowledge of the subject you opt for.
It is one of the most competitive exams in India, to clear this exam you really need to work hard with 100% dedication.

Earlier we discussed about Acharya Institute of Technology. As far as Garden City College is concerned, I would say that you need to revise the previous method of analyzing the college where parameters like faculty, education, teaching methods, curriculum, placements, fees, etc. As for the recognition I would say that it is AICTE approved.

XIC's entrance exams are generally simple and concise. The exam is somewhat similar for advertising as well as PR.
The exam is divided into two parts:
Part 1 (Objective) - Questions relevant to the course. This section is for 25 marks.
Part 2 (Subjective) - Writing skills. Three questions are asked, where you have to put forth your understanding and comments on the given topic. Usually, they are (a) Current happenings (Not the economic crises or anything, but related to media) (b) Any issue (These can be related to anything, when I gave my exam I was asked 'Modern Technology, Owes Ecology, An Apology' and had to comment on it) (c) An image will be given and you have to write a commentary on it. Try to be as creative as possible in this one. Not with the words, but with the thought. It's not necessary to boast vocabulary skills, but they must understand that you are a little 'hatke'!
GK books like Manorma, etc. can dumped in the dustbin, as far as possible. Such books are way too comprehensive. Just go through the newspaper daily. That shall suffice. You must be good with your brand knowledge, i.e. taglines (not punchlines), logos, etc.
