Since your JEE Main percentile is on the lower side (around 80–83), you won't be able to secure NIT/IIIT CSE seats, but you still have strong options through state counseling and private universities. Let me break down how you can apply and which colleges make sense for you:
How to Apply
JoSAA/CSAB Counseling (National level):
- Register on the JoSAA portal after JEE results.
- Fill choices for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs.
- At ~80 percentile, you won't get CSE, but you can still try for lower branches in newer NITs.
State Counseling (HSTES, REAP, UPSEE, CAP, etc.):
- Each state runs its own counseling for government engineering colleges.
- Example: HSTES

How BTech Admissions Work
NITs, IIITs, GFTIs: Admission strictly via JEE Main + JoSAA counseling.
State Govt. Engineering Colleges: Admission via state-level exams/counseling (REAP in Rajasthan, HSTES in Haryana, UPSEE in UP, etc.).
Private Universities:
Some accept CUET scores for general UG courses.
For BTech, most rely on JEE Main percentile or their own entrance exams (like VITEEE, SRMJEEE, BITSAT).
A few universities (like Galgotias, LPU, CU, Amity) may consider CUET + Class 12 marks for BTech admission, but this is not the mainstream route.
