The current topics of social, political, business and international importance should be known to you. If you are a regular news paper reader, then it should not pose great difficulty. For written skill assessment, you must give Introduction, brief back ground, main argument and conclusion. It must be concise yet must able to bring forward all the relevant information. Hi,
In most of the B-schools GDs are held on current topics related to sports, economics, business etc, so you need to be aware of all the latest current affairs, for this you should read news papers and magazines on regular basis.

It is always advisable to take initiative and speak first if you know about the topic, but if you are not aware of the topic you should listen to others first and then speak.
