IAS is not a tough exam, as it is made out to be. Your first focus obviously, should be on clearing the IAS Prelims. You can look at any one of the two books for your preparation, as in, IAS PRELIMS - TATA MC GRAW HILL PUBLICATION or IAS PRELIMS - PEARSON PUBLICATION. If you put in two hours of focused preparation daily for two months before the exam date, you will easily get through

To become an IAS officer you have to appear in Civil Service Exam.
The Civil Service Examination is organized by UPSC every year to recruit candidate for IAS, IPS etc.
Selection Process
The Civil Services Exam is a paper based test and consists of two successive stages:
(i) CSAT (Objective type) comprising 2 exams : General Studies
(ii) Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview)
CSAT-Prelim:
-Paper 1 is on General Studies
This includes areas like
Indian National Movement, Indian Polity, Basic Economic Understanding, Geography

The minimum qualification required for IAS is graduation from a reputed university. There are two stages that you need to clear- preliminary exam and main exam. In order to prepare for IAS the minimum requirement is graduation from a recognized university and the age group is 21-30yrs. For your preparation I would suggest you to first join a good coaching center so that you have the relevant study material to start your preparation.

Far IAS exam its better to start ur preparation from now onwards. Since its a very competitive exam. Collect informations on current affairs. improve on Apptitude knowledge. And reading 6th standard books to 12th standard books on CBSE pattern will be alot helpful.
