Should I drop a year to prepare for UPSC or pursue M.Com first?

    If you want to crack UPSC CSE and you are serious for that then don't go for any other courses after graduation because it doesn't matter. You should continue preparation for the exam only.

    Preparation for UPSC and M.Com can be done together. M.Com is subject specific specialization. However, UPSC preparation requires an all-round knowledge of the events happening regionally, nationally and internationally. Since PG is subject specific one can dedicate a stipulated time for its studies. For UPSC one should be able to classify what to study and what not. This approach develops with proper reading habit. The Commission will also activate the UPSC CSE (IAS) 2026 online application link on its website. The last date for the UPSC IAS application form is February 3, 2026.

The UPSC CSE (IAS) prelims will be conducted on May 24, 2026.
