Should I give precedence to the role or the company while accepting a placement offer in the engineering field?

You should consider the following factors before accepting any job offer -
1. Position/Job title - It is really important because this job title will decide your job opportunities in the future when you want to shift to other company.
2. CTC - Of course it is important. You have many expenses and a family to take care of so you need a good package.
Out of job role and company try to start with a big brand name and then you can get good jobs later because of that brand name. I would suggest trying to find a job which has both decent job role and a brand name. -

2. If you are getting average post in a reputed company and a good post in an average company then, you should settle with the first one. The good companies ensures your growt...more -
See, this doubt is as same as what to give preference to a college or a branch during admissions. And in that perspective, I had an opinion of going for the good college because you can always change the branch in the initial year and a good college definitely has good facilities and opportunities. I would like to say for the jobs in engineering.
According to me, go for a good company irrespective of role. I mean choose a halfway, but be inclined more towards the company. You should rather find a strike balance between both, if you have multiple orders you can offset any one of those parameters, but it is always advised to go for both criteria on top priority.
A good organization holds great weightage with its brand recognition and repute for being best if it features in fortune 500 league.
On the other hand, a good role makes your life easier with the kind of work you love the most and comfortable with.
Students generally look for big names and end up taking roles where they are not comfortable with it which makes their career not thought of. Major IT companies take up students from all branches of Engine...more -
Hi,
When you have more than one offer, then the first thing you should judge the role and position you have been offered which is relating to your interest and passion and whether this job profile will take you to future to achieve your goals. I know several people who took the offer and after many years they realized the particular role and job profile doesn't suit for them and it's already late.
It's a wise advise you if get an offer with very lucrative package but if the role doesn't suit you then you have full freedom to go for other choice. The right role/profile will help to bring good package, better company and growth in future....more
