Your choice for the type of health insurance provider in Germany should depend on your individual requirements. Public insurance plans are much affordable; yet do not cover many health conditions. Private health insurance for foreign students in Germany has a much broader scope, but might be costlier. Hence, the decision boils down to the applicant's own medical history, health preferences and budget. However, unless there is any major underlying health condition, it is generally advisable to go for a public insurance provider initially, and gradually upgrade to a full-time/add-on private plan, as per your individual medical needs.&nbs
