Should I leave B.Sc (1st semester) and start preparing for engineering entrance exams 2017?

Instead of wasting a year for preparations of B.Tech entrance exam, I opted B.Sc., but now I am interested in B.Tech after knowing the advantages of B.Tech over B.Sc.

Yes you can, if you are confident to crack IIT-JEE with a good rank. Investing 1-year for B.Tech will be more fruitful if you get into top IITs or NITs or IIITs. You must be sure about your preparation for coming months so that you give your best shot and secure a good rank.
