Should I opt for computer science or pursue information technology course?

*Hardware and networking has not nothing to do with CSE or IT Well, the difference is not really huge between CSE and IT You first need to understand the basic difference between the two terminologies. Information technology (IT) may adopt the monikers information systems or systems administration. Essentially, IT professionals are the users of technology. Whereas , Computer Science(CSE) background person, i.e computer 'scientists' are focused with the theory of computational applications. That means they understand the why behind computer programs. Now as far as the studies are concerned, IT is more theoretical based. Whereas Computer Science includes almost all concepts needed from IT as well as programming skills required for working & creating real life technological tools. Also I would like to add a lot of colleges are dissolving IT as an independent stream and merging its fundamental subjects with Computer Science Stream, as IT is considered to be a subset of CSE. And generally for placements or higher studies, preference is given to a student from CSE background as compared to IT, this is because a student from CSE is presumed to be familiar with all concepts of subjects offered in IT but the same cannot be said for a student of IT.
