Should I prepare for IIT or should I take admission in a private engineering college? I have passed class 12th and interested in computers.

Let me tell you one simple thing that, for engineering, there is nothing better than the IIT. So if you have any doubts and comparison which includes IIT then just shift towards IIT. All the very best.

The Exam IIT JEE has been bifurcated into JEE Mains and Advanced after 2013. Now the admission in NIT and Govt/Private Colleges is through Mains and IITs allow admission through Advanced only. There are many colleges good for computer science other than IITS. You can take admission in any of those colleges. If you think you can drop a year to prepare well for JEE then only go for it.

Hi Sandeep, To get into IITs you must clear the IIT JEE, and to be eligible to take the JEE exams one must have at least 75% in 12th. You can check your percentile and decide. Other than IITs you can try for other engineering institutes and entrances like BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, etc.
