NIRF ranking is not everything.NIT Durgapur ranks 47 and IIEST, Shibpur ranks 30. I will suggest you to go for Shibpur if you are interested in civil engineering or else if you are interested in mechanical engineering then choose NIT Durgapur. If you are not stream biased then choose Shibpur. Why? Here are some advantages-
    1. Better placement cell
    2. Nearby Kolkata
    3. Offers dual degree (B.Tech+M.Tech, 5 years)
If you opt out to pursue only B.Tech then you can also do that and get your B.Tech degree after 4th year.

    See NIRF Rank:
    1. IIEST Shibpur - 17
    2. NIT Durgapur - 55
Though NIRF Ranking is not 100 % correct, but it gives an idea about where an institute stands and IIEST Shibpur is Ranked Above All NITs except only two. NIT Durgapur is also a very good institute and IIEST Shibpur is happy to see that an institute which was born in IIEST Shibpur Campus and mentored since its birth by BEC / IIIEST, is now a National Institute Ranked among hundred institutes in India. IIEST Shibpur has consistently been Ranked better than any of these institutes. NIRF 2017 : 17
    NIRF 2016 : 20
    EduRand 2015 : 13
The institutes ranked better are the top 7 IITs, BITS Pila
