sir, i did my btech in ece and mtech in vlsi. i wish to do my research in nanotechnology. will it be difficult for me to study a new subject

sir,i would like to do my research n nanotechnology. but the pbm is i did my btech in ece and mtech in vlsi with my mtech project in mems sensors. so i am confused if it would be very difficult to do my phd in nanotechnology as it is completely a new subject for me. plz reply soon
